Licensed cannabis dispensaries in Ohio sold more than $836 million of adult-use cannabis products in 2025, the Ohio Capital Journal reports.

It was Ohio’s first full year with a regulated adult-use market. Cannabis sales launched in the state in August 2024; total adult-use sales have reached nearly $1.1 billion since then.

The average price of cannabis in Ohio decreased in 2025, from a manufactured sales average of $26.66 in January last year to $23.83 last week, according to data from the Division of Cannabis Control. Additionally, the average price of a single gram of flower fell from $6.85 a year ago to $6.41 last week.

There are currently 190 dispensaries licensed for both medical and adult-use sales.

Ohio launched its medical cannabis program in early 2019, and state retailers have recorded nearly $2.3 billion in medical cannabis sales.

Voters approved the legalization of adult-use cannabis in November 2023.

Last month, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) signed into law new cannabis restrictions, criminalizing the sale of hemp THC products and the possession of out-of-state cannabis products. Advocates with the group Ohioans for Cannabis Choice are seeking to overturn the new law with a citizen-led ballot initiative, arguing that the legislation “forcefully defies the will of the voters of Ohio.”
