Medical cannabis legalization in Alabama
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey (R) signed the state’s medical cannabis legalization bill into law on May 17, 2021. Patients enrolled in the program will have access to cannabis tablets, capsules, gummies, lozenges, topicals, suppositories, transdermal patches, and concentrate-based vaporizers — smoking cannabis flower, however, will not be allowed under the law. Doctors will need to undergo a training course before they can make recommendations for the program, and they must specify daily dosages and product types for their patients.
