New packaging rules for Oklahoma medical cannabis retailers will take effect on November 1, the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority announced last week.
The new rules will require packaging for infused edibles to “clearly indicate the number of [THC servings] in each package and the amount of tetrahydrocannabinol in each individual serving,” while packaging for infused beverages must “clearly indicate on the container the number of servings in each drink or beverage.”
Additionally, the new rules prohibit edibles manufactured in shapes that may entice children, like animals or candies, and update the industry’s packaging requirements for edibles and beverage products to prohibit images and words that could be appealing to children.
The rule changes come from House Bill 4454, which Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) signed into law on May 7, 2026.
The agency said that starting November 1, any new products produced, processed, packaged, or transferred to a licensed retailer must meet the new labeling requirements.
Dispensaries will not be required to get rid of or stop selling any remaining products that were compliant with the pre-HB 4454 labeling requirements.
