The Nebraska Medical Cannabis Commission on Monday unanimously approved the state’s first medical cannabis cultivator to begin operations, the Nebraska Examiner reports.
The regulators’ sign-off on the official inspection of MahāMotā Cultivation Company in Raymond paves the way for the state’s first legal medical cannabis crop.
The four-member commission, which started meeting last June, will begin accepting applications for medical cannabis manufacturer licenses starting Wednesday, June 24.
Per state regulations, commissioners can award four product manufacturing licenses, up to 12 transportation licenses, and up to 12 dispensary licenses.
Meanwhile, in May, Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers (R) joined the AGs of Indiana and Louisiana in filing a lawsuit against the federal Department of Justice’s recent rescheduling of medical cannabis.
