Hawaii Senate Rejects Cannabis Decriminalization Measure

The Hawaii Senate has rejected a cannabis decriminalization proposal over concerns that the reforms would lead to a stronger illicit market in the state.
Hawaii cannabis was legalized for medical use in 2000 but did not create legislation to build a framework for regulated retail sales and cultivation. In 2020 possession of three grams or less was decriminalized, punishable by a nominal fine. Read about Hawaiian cannabis policy and news here:
