Ballot Initiative

An elections official in Arkansas said the petition to expand the state’s medical cannabis program had garnered enough signatures to qualify for November’s ballot. The state Supreme Court had ordered officials to continue verifying signatures after the secretary of state said previously the initiative failed to qualify.

The Justices determined that a proposed ballot initiative to legalize cannabis in the state was misleading due to an unclear use of the word “use.”

South Dakota’s Supreme Court heard arguments on Wednesday in the governor’s legal challenge to the cannabis legalization ballot initiative that was approved by last November.
