The Oregon House of Representatives has approved a measure easing the expungement process for low-level cannabis crimes, removing fees associated with the process and lowering ID requirements.

A bill to temporarily cap Oregon’s cannabis business licenses has passed the Senate and now moves to the House; Oregon currently has an oversupply of cannabis products that would last the state more than six years at current consumption rates.

Oregon has the cheapest cannabis of the 10 state-legal marketplaces at an average of $210 per “high-quality” ounce of flower; Massachusetts marks the other end of the spectrum at $341 per “high-quality” ounce.

Oregon lawmakers will discuss the possibility of legalizing cannabis lounges during a committee hearing scheduled for Thursday.

A report completed last week by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission shows that there’s enough cannabis already in stock in Oregon to meet more than six years of demand — and the state keeps issuing licenses to new producers.

Two companies in the cannabis space have been awarded $30,000 each to help bridge the “racially-divided capital gap.”

The proposal would allow interstate cannabis exports to other legalized states, but Oregon’s governor would need to reach an agreement with the receiving state and product would be prohibited from crossing borders with non-legal states.
