Oregon activists have launched a campaign to decriminalize all drug possession in an effort to reduce unfairly harsh prison sentences and increase addiction treatment possibilities.
As more states legalize both medical and recreational marijuana use, the need for decriminalization on state and federal levels is a growing concern. Cannabis is still a Schedule I substance according to federal law, and many states, even those with legal marijuana markets, can still charge individuals for possession of small amounts.
