Armed robbers last week disrupted a Grass Valley, California-based cannabis cultivation site, holding at least five of the company’s workers at gunpoint and ultimately making off with more than 150 pounds of processed cannabis.
The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office said that when deputies arrived on the scene Thursday morning after receiving a 911 call regarding the incident, they determined an armed robbery had occurred but the suspects had already fled the scene by the time they arrived. Officials estimated the lost product was worth about $1,000 per pound, or about $150,000.
According to statements from the workers, who were living and working on the property and were not physically harmed during the incident, the suspects wore masks and gloves throughout the ordeal.
The sheriff’s office said the primary suspects in the robbery included three adults — one Black male, one Hispanic male, and one Caucasian male — and that up to four other people could have been involved. The sheriff’s office also encouraged any members of the public with information regarding the robbery to call the Sheriff’s Special Investigation Unit, and that anonymous tips are welcome.
